Purpose
The YMCA of Cambridge Leadership programs seek to provide opportunities for youth to learn about themselves, others and the world around them in a safe and supportive environment that fosters their personal leadership capacity.
Goals of the Program
Leaders in training summer camp (ages 13+)
This LIT training is a requirement for all youth volunteers at YMCA of Cambridge day camps. If you want to volunteer at day camp this summer, make sure you sign up for this camp. This week will include skills and abilities to work with children and youth in a camp setting. You will learn programming, team building and leadership skills. Registration is open and can be done at the YMCA's membership services desk.
Course dates: July 2 - 6 & July 9 - 13
Fee: $122/child/week
Learning Leaders (Ages 9-12)
Tuesdays 6-8 p.m.
This course is a fun and active way to start to build your leadership skills and get
ready for the next level of leadership training.
No Course Fee ( Next session will start in September, 2012)
LEAD 1
(Leadership Excellence Asset Development )
(Ages 13+)
Tuesdays 6-8 p.m.
Build your leadership skills. Get a firm foundation to give you the confidence and knowledge of a leader.
LEAD is mandatory training for YMCA youth volunteers in camps and programs.
This is a 12 week certificate program & 100% attendance is strongly recommended.
Course Fee: $ 45 (plus HST) ( Next session will be in September, 2012. contact the Z for more informatinon)
LEAD 2
(Ages 13+)
Tuesdays 6-8 p.m.
Youth must complete LEAD 1 or LIT camp to be eligible to take LEAD 2.
Once you've accomplished the LEAD 1 course, put your leadership skills into action by making a difference in your community. The group will identify community projects that inspire them, in order to put their leadership skills to use carrying out these projects.
